About Mensa Brands
Mensa brand started as a company about a year ago in 2021. The name of the CEO and Founder of Mensa Brands is Anant Narayan. Prior to starting Mensa Brands, Anant Narayan has previously held the position of CEO of several startups and has a deep understanding of the ecommerce world. Many companies have made themselves stable and profitable by hiring them in their times of crisis. After doing his masters from Michigan, he worked for 15 years with an international company McKinsey. In his job career of 15 years, he worked in countries like America, China and India.
Leaving McKinsey’s job, he worked as CEO in brands like Myntra, Jabong and Medlife.
Worked in Myntra from 2015 – 2019 and during this time the company grew 6x and reduced the burn rate by 60%. Meanwhile, in 2016, Myntra acquired Jabong as well and in 2016, Anant was the CEO of both Myntra and Jabong.
In 2019, Ananth joined the Medlife online pharmacy brand in the CEO position. In his 2-year Medlife job career, Ananth took over as CEO at the time of joining the company in terms of salary and equity. Ananth has the expertise to increase company’s sales growth and reduce losses and he has proved it in Medlife as well. During his tenure Medlife achieved 6 – 7% month on month growth and reduced Medlife’s cash burn by 20%.
In the financial year 2019 where Medlife’s sales were 365 crores, in the same financial year 2020 the sales of Medlife were 1143 crores and they also acquired Pharmeasy
In 2020 and after that Anant exited with a substantial amount against his equity in Medlife .
After this took a break of 6 months and started thinking what to do next in life and this is where the Mensa brand started. He knew that whatever he has to do, he has to do it in the internet world and e-commerce only.
How the Mensa brand works ?
Mensa brand has acquired more than 20 brands so far and the company has a very clear road map. They know very well that what they want to acquire and how much effort should be put in it by Mensa.
They evaluate brands by keeping them in majorly three categories.
- Mensa helps Start Stage brands whose revenue is between 10-50 crores to stabilize sectors like brand growth, scaling, marketing, and supply chain.
- Their second category is mid brands. Whose revenue is between 50-100 crores. Mensa brand helps them in category and channel expansion.
- They have a third brand category whose revenue is more than 100 crores. It helps them in technology and brand building.
It is not that they help the business to different levels, rather they take the business to the next level by making it grow from one level. It has acquired more than 20 brands till now and in 2023, by acquiring more than 20 brands, it has a projection of 3000+ revenue of Mensa brand.
